OUR STORY (A LIE)

The Beginning: A Podcast Changed Everything

The Lightbulb MomentIt was 2019. Our founder, (me), was listening to their fourth wellness podcast of the day while pretending to work. Somewhere between "optimize your mitochondria" and "hack your circadian rhythm," a vision appeared—not spiritual enlightenment, but a business idea.

What if we could sell the feeling of being healthy without the inconvenience of actual results?

Thus, Placebo & Co. was born. Or rather, conceived. Or maybe just vaguely imagined during a particularly long commute.

The Lab That Never Was

The Dark Years: R&D (Really Didn't Happen)

We spent months not developing our product line. Our team of zero scientists, negative clinical trials, and absolutely no FDA oversight allowed us to create supplements with the perfect formula: nothing.

Our breakthrough came when we realized that:

  • Real supplements require supply chains
  • Supply chains require money
  • Money requires selling things
  • Selling things requires... effort

So we pivoted. Why create actual products when you can create the idea of products? It's innovation meets laziness meets a Shopify tutorial.

The Philosophy: Wellness Without the Work

At Placebo & Co., we believe in:

Radical Transparency (Sort Of)

We're honest about being dishonest. Our supplements don't exist, but our email marketing strategy absolutely does.

Sustainable Practices

Zero carbon footprint because zero products. We're the greenest supplement company that isn't a company.

Community Over Commerce

We can't sell you anything even if we wanted to—payments are disabled. Instead, we offer you something more valuable: the aesthetic of having your life together.

Science-Backed (By Wikipedia)

Every product description is rooted in half-remembered Joe Rogan episodes and Instagram infographics we saw once.

Our Founder's Journey

I didn't set out to revolutionize the supplement industry. In fact, they set out to learn Shopify and Klaviyo because the job market is unforgiving and portfolio projects are currency.

Previous experience:

  • Buying supplements they never finished
  • Starting morning routines that lasted three days
  • Clicking "Subscribe & Save" and forgetting to cancel

Qualifications:

  • Expert at online shopping cart abandonment (now creating them)
  • Fluent in wellness buzzwords (adaptogens, nootropics, bioavailability)
  • Can explain CLV, retention curves, and email segmentation while keeping a straight face

Our State-of-the-Art Facility

The "Lab" (Spare Bedroom)

Our state-of-the-art facility features:

  • One laptop
  • Mediocre WiFi
  • Coffee-stained notebooks full of Klaviyo flow diagrams
  • Unrealistic optimism about open rates

Quality Control: We ensure that 100% of our products meet the highest standards of not existing.

Our Values

Integrity

We will never lie to you about our products being real. They're not. This entire website is a learning exercise dressed up as a brand.

Innovation

We're pioneering the field of "portfolio projects that make interviewers laugh and then seriously consider your CRM skills."

Inclusivity

Our supplements work equally well for everyone because they work for no one.

Accountability

If our products don't work, you can't get a refund because you can't buy them. It's the perfect business model.

Our Prestigious Awards

Awards & Recognition (All Fake)

🏆 2024 Imaginary Wellness Awards: "Most Honest Dishonest Brand"
🏆 Forbes 30 Under 30 Fictional Founders: Honorable Mention
🏆 Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies That Don't Exist: #1

Press (Things No One Said)

"Revolutionary. If it were real." — Nobody at TechCrunch

"I genuinely can't tell if this is genius or stupid." — A confused recruiter, probably

"This person understands retention mechanics better than most DTC brands." — We hope someone says this

"Why is this so well-executed for something that doesn't exist?" — You, right now

Our Team

Founder & CEO: [Me]
Visionary, strategist, person who watched too many Shopify YouTube tutorials

Head of Product Development: Nobody
Responsible for our entire product line of nothing

Chief Science Officer: Several LLM's like Gemini, CoPilot, Claude and the like
Handles all the "research" and fact-checking we don't do

VP of Customer Success: Klaviyo automations
Sends emails to customers who don't exist about orders that never happened

Director of Fulfillment: The void
Shipping times: Never. Delivery rate: 0%. Customer satisfaction: 10/10

Looking to the Future

Looking Forward: Our Vision

By 2030, we plan to:

  • Still not sell anything
  • Expand our product line to include more things that don't exist
  • Perfect our email sequences to the point where they're genuinely useful case studies
  • Get hired based on this ridiculous portfolio piece

Our promise to you: We'll never compromise our values. Mostly because we don't have inventory, investors, or any actual business pressure.

The Real Story

Okay fine, you made it this far. Here's the truth:

This is a portfolio project by someone learning the Shopify + Klaviyo ecosystem. Every product, collection, and email flow is designed to demonstrate CRM and retention marketing skills in a memorable, non-boring way.

If you're here because you're interviewing me: Hi. Thanks for appreciating the effort. I promise my actual work is professional, strategic, and doesn't involve this much sarcasm (unless you want it to).

If you're here by accident: Welcome. Feel free to browse, laugh, and maybe consider that the wellness industry takes itself way too seriously.

Questions? Concerns? Job offers?

Email us at: noreply@placeboco.store

Yes, it says noreply. Will it work? Unclear. Worth a shot.

P.S. — If this made you smile even once, the project already succeeded. If it made you think "this person knows their stuff," even better.

P.P.S. — Yes, we know this whole thing is ridiculous. That's the point.

P.P.P.S. — Seriously though, the Klaviyo flows are legit. Want to see them?

Placebo & Co. - Fake products. Real strategy. Zero apologies.
